The Challenge
Every funeral home that switches to CRäKN arrives with years of case data locked in another vendor's system: MSSQL backups, MySQL databases, CSV exports. Each import was a manual, one-off job, which slowed onboarding and made data quality hard to prove.
Our Solution
We won the work through an RFP in 2022 and built a cloud data-transformation platform. Source adapters run as Airflow DAGs for MIMS backups (MSSQL .BAK/.MDF), FrontRunner (MySQL), CSV and JSON/XML. Raw data lands in MongoDB; staff then map fields in a React interface, clone and re-run versioned mappings, and approve or reject the results before export to Tribute's JSON data spec. Four roles (superadmin, admin, staff, client) control who can do what. While the platform was being built we also ran 11 manual conversions so onboarding never stopped.
The Outcome
In February 2023 Tribute stopped manual imports in favour of the automated process. Tribute's product owner judged success by matching migrated data against A/R reports, case counts and spot checks. In September 2023 we moved the production code into Tribute's repositories and AWS account, with installation and architecture documentation.
